This policy explains how Running Fit Sites researches, writes and updates its content.
Independence
Our editors decide what to cover and what to recommend. Manufacturers and retailers do not review or approve our articles before publication, and we do not accept payment for coverage. Affiliate commissions (see our Affiliate Disclosure) do not change our recommendations.
Research and sources
We base our guides on manufacturer manuals and specifications, state fish and wildlife agencies, U.S. Coast Guard boating safety, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (16 CFR 1203 bicycle helmets), NHTSA bicycle safety, League of American Bicyclists, American College of Sports Medicine, CDC physical activity guidelines, and race organizer rules. Where a claim matters for safety, health or a buying decision, we link to or name the source. When evidence is limited or mixed, we say so.
How we choose products
Buying guides and comparisons explain the selection criteria we used, such as features, specifications, compatibility, ease of cleaning or maintenance, safety information and published recalls. Specifications come from manufacturers and are checked against the product listing at the time of writing; they can change, so please confirm details before you buy.
We are clear about testing. Unless an article describes how we tested a product ourselves, our recommendations are based on research, published specifications and documentation, not hands-on testing. We never invent test results, star ratings, prices or customer reviews.
Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools to help with research summaries or first drafts. Every article is reviewed and edited by a person before publication, and that person is responsible for checking facts against sources.
Safety-sensitive topics
Check your state's fishing license and regulations before you fish, wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket on boats and kayaks, and handle hooks and fillet knives with care. Wear a helmet that meets the CPSC bicycle helmet standard (16 CFR 1203) and use front and rear lights after dark. Increase running mileage gradually, stay hydrated in heat, and check with a doctor before starting a new training program if you have a health condition.
Corrections and updates
If we find an error, we correct it. We show an updated date only when an article has actually been revised. To report an error, please use our Contact page.
